AMD has been on the 7th heavens for quite some time now, with both their CPU and GPU departments performing extremely well, and now it looks like they are ready to take on Nvidia’s shiny DLSS with their FidelityFX!
AMD had teased this feature way back when they had launched their RX 6000 series cards, but it wasn’t released at all, with AMD saying the feature will arrive soon and take on “competitors tech”. But we weren’t shown any sample or any fixed release date, but looks like AMD’s fanboiz have their dreams coming true!
For those who don’t know, DLSS allows Nvidia’s RTX GPUs like the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 to render frames at a lower resolution and then use machine learning to upscale the resolution on the rendered frame to 1080p or even 4K. This leads to much higher framerates, while the resolution change is not noticeable at all. And AMD calls this FidelityFX for their new cards.
If AMD nails this tech ( by their release date in March ), they would be able to close the gap even further between the 2 flagship cards! Who knows, maybe AMD will take on Nvidia after all this year?
