Ryzen Zen 4 CPUs to smash Zen 3 chips with double digit performance gains!

AMD is on a winning streak and they show absolutely no signs of stopping any time soon! And it looks like Zen 4 and Zen 5 might put their own old chips and Intel to dust!

According to the recent leaks by Chips and Cheese, he has allegedly got info regarding both Zen 4 and Zen 5 chips by AMD! Of course, we should take all leaks with a pinch of salt, but this might be actually true to a great extent.

Getting to the exciting part, Zen 4 chips are touted to have a mind boggling +25% IPC gain! Yes, 25% improvements! And this comes with mouth watering power consumption reductions as well! Going from 7nm to 5nm, there will be a 30% reductions in power usage! These numbers are actually mind boggling, and if this actually happens, AMD will be taking back the crown from Apple Silicon as well!

But it’s not just “Raphael” desktop parts that will benefit from this improved Zen 4 microarchitecture and change in process nodes. Chips and Cheese makes reference to a source informing the site that an engineering sample of a Zen 4-based EPYC Genoa server chip made light work of a Zen 3-based EPYC Milan counterpart by being 29% faster, and that’s with the same clock rates and identical core configuration.

Additionally, it has been said that the cores might be able to hit 5Ghz turbo across all cores! So Intel is creeping up to Intel tricks as well! And this can actually lead to a whopping 40% performance increase over Zen 3!

Also, talking about Zen 5, AMD’s boss Lisa Su stated in a recent Q&A session how the company is “focusing on Zen 4 and Zen 5 to be extremely competitive”, and a rumored potential IPC uplift of +40% from Zen 4 should provide plenty of competition. Considering how 3nm would give 10-15% performance gains, and coupled with AMD’s engineering, they might actually reign the market!
