Samsung has been the pioneer in the foldable devices area for quite some time now, and it seems that their upcoming foldable smartphones will be a lot less expensive than their predecessors!
The original fold devices, that is the Galaxy Fold 2 had been priced at 2000$ at launch, which dropped down to 180$ and has still gone downwards, but it is still quite expensive. Yet, there is a silver lining of hope because as per leaks, the upcoming devices would be even more down the line in terms of pricing.
The current pricing for the Z Fold 2 is down to 1200$, and you can get even lower with trade-ins. New tech at a lower price than this, that too at a 20% cut would mean that the upcoming Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 might be priced around 900-1000$, with the worst case being 1100-1200$ starting price.
This will be much comparable to the current flagship devices from Apple, and make foldable devices more widespread, which will help bringing down prices even lower thanks to mass production. ( Samsung Stonks? )
Some bonus news? The upcoming Fold is rumored to have an under-display front camera, along with an IP rating for water resistance, bringing the delicate foldables one step closer to durable smartphones. There might also be the addition of an S Pen, which will make these devices compete with Apple’s iPads as well.
