Zoom will now force ads upon everyone!

Zoom, one of the most popular video conferencing solutions used during the pandemic, is about to get a major change which will make it a bad user experience for free users! Let us dive right into the announcement!

Why Zoom became popular

When employees all over the world began working from home last year, the video conferencing service grew at an exponential rate, with its user base expanding from mostly enterprise users to include a big number of individual users.

The new Adverts program

When free customers using Zoom’s video conferencing software in a browser finish their conference, adverts will be displayed as part of the new initiative. Only free users in select countries will see these ads if they attend meetings organised by other Basic users, although the business did not disclose which countries would be included in the advertising pilot programme.

After finishing a conference, free users will see a banner ad on Zoom’s website with a link above the ad urging they “Upgrade to Remove Ads.” Pelosi also stated that the corporation will not use audio, video files, or messages from meetings, webinars, or messaging for marketing, promotions, or third-party advertising purposes.

It’s also worth mentioning that the length of group calls for free Zoom customers is still limited to 40 minutes, which may attract some users to upgrade to its commercial plans.

While this new ads feature probably won’t obstruct your video call experience, it sure will make it annoying. And this points to a future where Zoom might introduce even more adverts.
